While our long-term dream is to open Silver Paws Resort, a sanctuary dedicated to senior dogs, we will always continue rescuing animals of every age and every breed. And no matter how much we grow, you’ll always find pups, especially Boxers, in our care—they hold a special place in our hearts.
We rescue, foster, adopt, and transport our own animals—everything is done in-house by our dedicated team. We don’t rely entirely on fosters to save lives. For our non-senior animals, we prefer to keep them in-house at our facility, where we can guide their training, support their progress, and make sure they’re set up for success. It also allows them to be available for meet-and-greets at our Resale for Rescue shop, The Garage Sale, where visitors can shop, support the mission, and spend time loving on the pups.
We strive for successful adoptions, but we care far more about making the right match than a fast one. We will never rush an adoption. All adopters must be willing to help the animal acclimate with play dates, sleepovers, proper introductions to other pets and family, and time to build trust. If everything goes well after about a month in your home, we’ll then move forward with the final adoption paperwork.
We also have an open-door policy: at any point in time, if you can no longer keep the pet, we will take them back. Their safety and stability will always come first.
As much as we believe pets are lifelong commitments, the reality of the crisis in Texas tells a different story. The issue isn’t only over-breeding for profit—it’s the heartbreaking number of pets who are dumped or surrendered every single day, even by families who’ve had them for 10 years or more. We’ve seen it all.
That’s why we stay realistic and keep our animals’ best interests at the heart of everything we do. Always. And that’s also why our open-door policy will remain firmly in place. No judgment. No questions asked… unless there are behavioral concerns that we need to understand for safety.
With additional funding—whether it comes from a customer’s leftover change or tips, or through pledges and online donations—we can open new doors of opportunity for our pups by sending them to obedience training. Every single dollar truly makes a difference in shaping their future.
Our vision is to one day bring all training in-house, creating a welcoming space where adopters and fosters can grow and learn alongside their dogs. When people and pups train together, confidence builds on both ends of the leash. This not only helps our rescues become well-rounded, secure companions, but also gives those with the right heart, temperament, and potential the chance to reach even higher—testing for service work and, ultimately, changing someone’s life.
If adopting isn’t the right step for you right now, you can still change a life. Your donation toward a pup’s medical needs, food and enrichment, or training helps set them up for success.
