PAWS Foundation Adoption, Foster-to-Adopt & Foster Application
Please read the application thoroughly and answer all questions before submitting.
Please read before filling out your application:
Locations we serve: We are currently accepting applications from residents primarily in Texas; however, we will consider out-of-state and Canadian adoptions. While we serve Texas, we will travel to conduct physical home checks. In some cases, we may not be able to travel and complete the home check, and for this reason, your application may not be pursued for adoption.
Canadian Residents: We must work with a rescue in your area to transport a pet across the border.
Transport fees: Determined by destination and travel distance.
Same-sex Sex Dogs in a Household: Our rescue does not adopt dogs to households that already have a dog of the same sex. This is due to increased aggression and dominance issues among same sex dogs. This also applies to dogs who frequently visit your home. In some cases, we allow dogs with an 8-year age difference to be placed in the same house.
Application Types:
Below, you will be asked to select what type of application you would like to submit.
Adoption: You are interested in adopting a rescue already in foster care and ready for adoption. (Please know there will also be a four-week trial period to guarantee a good match)
Foster-to-Adopt: You are interested in fostering (until the rescue has received a clean bill of health) with the intention to adopt. If you decide the dog is not a good fit, you can continue fostering until the dog is adopted out or return him to the rescue
Foster: You are interested in providing a safe, structured and loving home for a rescue dog until they find their forever home through the adoption process. All supplies and medical expenses will be covered.
What to Expect When Fostering or Fostering-to-Adopt: There’s no “perfect” foster pet. Every animal that enters care has their own personality and may need time, love, and patience to work through unwanted behaviors. Many have never experienced a safe or stable home like the one you’ll be giving them.
We will never place a human-aggressive dog or a pet with serious behavioral issues in a new foster home. Those animals stay safely at our facility and enter a board-and-train program so they can get the focused support they need.
Every dog that enters PAWS comes with their own quirks and needs. Some may require an only-dog home, medical care, crate or potty training, help working through fears, or structured crate rotation—and that’s all part of the process. Remember, crate training isn’t a punishment. It gives a dog a safe, calm space to decompress and feel secure. In fact, it’s the very first skill we teach every rescue in our care.
And, some animals simply need time before they feel comfortable being social, and that’s completely okay. With patience and kindness, they’ll start to trust. It doesn’t make them any less adoptable—they just need the right foster or adopter who’s willing to walk with them through that journey.
If you’re ready to take on the responsibility and joy of a lifelong commitment, please complete the application below to begin the adoption or foster process.
