To ensure the best matches are made, we have a process that has been proven effective in determining the best homes for our dogs.
Step 1: Fill out and submit an Adoption/Foster Application.
Step 2: A member of our adoption team will screen applicants by conducting a phone interview, a home check, and verifying references and the current veterinarian.
Step 3: Once an application is approved, PAWS will discuss available animals and set up a meeting when a match is made. If everything goes well, we’ll finalize the paperwork, and your new pack member can go home!
Adoption Fees
- Puppies up to 6 months old $400
- Spay/Neutered 6 months to 7 years $300
- 8+ years are foster only
Transport Fees
- Determined by destination, travel distance, and the caretaker fee
- Depends on one-way car rental to the destination city
- Considering how many days of travel are needed
- Fuel for travel to the destination city
- If an animal is returned from out-of-state adopters, we ask that you help us cover the cost of the car rental and fuel for the return journey.
Adoption fee breakdown: An intake for a stray will cost a minimum of $65 for full vaccinations, $85-$300 for spay/neuter, $80 for heartworm preventative, and $20 for Capstar & Flea treatment. That’s a minimum of $250, and that’s the low end. Each animal comes with different ailments – some heartworm positive, some needing surgery or medical treatment, some are severely emaciated and require a special diet to gain weight. We ask for an adoption fee to help recover these costs for the next intake, as it can cost thousands of dollars to save an animal.
